The Penta TP combines the best features of the TP Red and TP Black and is now available from the used golf balls shop along with a full selection of other TaylorMade golf balls.
AAA TaylorMade Penta TP -1 Dozen
The TaylorMade Penta TP golf ball is the first 5 piece tour ball ever produced. Each layer is designed to provide optimal performance on every shot. The Penta TP has all the benefits of the TP Black and the TP Red rolled into one ball. The inner core produces faster ball speed and greater distance while the inner mantle promotes soft feel with a high launch and low spin off long iron shots. The middle mantle increases control with mid irons and helps prevent ballooning and the outer mantle generates optimum spin on short irons shots without sacrificing distance. The Tour-caliber urethane cover delivers a soft feel and higher spin rate on scoring shots inside of 100 yards. The Penta TP is comparable to the Titleist Pro V1/V1x, Callaway Tour i/ix, and Bridgestone B330/B330S golf balls.

The TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Irons set has clubs from #4 up and includes a pitching wedge and approach wedge. This is a game improvement set. The clubs give more consistency to your game due to the forgiveness built into the larger face which is useful with my handicap!
The TaylorMade 2.0 is taking over (or has taken over) from the Burner 09 iron which was very good and popular in its day. The new technology in the TaylorMade 2.0 irons means they are built for longer distances with a stronger launch and to help this the shafts are longer than on the older irons.
These newer irons have several improvements over older sets and they do give you more distance without loosing any of your accuracy.
TaylorMade have designed the longer irons (4,s and 5,s etc) with a larger head to give distance (and forgiveness) where the shorter irons up to the 9 iron are smaller and focus more on control and accuracy. All the irons have a thin face which gives a good strong spring off the face and these cleverly vary in thickness from iron to iron to give the distance that is required from any particular club.
The TaylorMade 2.0 irons feature the cone technology (see the picture up on the left) and a new gun metal black finish with a chromed sole. It does make it a very good looking club. The Taylormade 2.0 shaft options give you a choice between stiff, regular or flex and steel or graphite. The 2.0 irons have been tuned for great feel, sound and distance. No wonder they are one of the most popular golf iron sets on the market.
Are TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Irons Good For A Novice?
These are reasonably expensive club for a novice golfer. However, if they are within your price range and you are sure that you are going to continue then we can certainly recommend the TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons. They are perhaps more suitable for high handicappers as well as more seasoned golfers as they are designed to improve your game.
You should bear in mind that perhaps the most important thing is getting your game going first and this can be achieved with a preowned TaylorMade set if you prefer to go that route. You do need to consider things like the lie angle of the clubs, the “flex” of the shaft, the shaft material and the lengths of the clubs. As TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons cover the whole range and are available in various permutations you will find the right combination for your game.
You may like to compare the #2.0 set with the TaylorMade Burner 1.0 Iron set which are less expensive and have a polished steel finish as opposed to the gun metal finish of the TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons.
If you are looking for a set of irons that will add distance to your game, for clubs where the golf ball springs off the face with plenty of loft, ýou will not go wrong with the TaylorMade 2.0 irons.
Cons
We have noticed that although these iron sets look great when they are brand new they are susceptible to scratching. We recommend you invest in some iron head covers to maintain the finish longer.
The TaylorMade R11 is a remarkable driver; highly technical yet beautifully simple. Because of that I was asked to make a TaylorMade R11 review covering its amazing features and benefits. You will find out how you can fine tune it with three different settings in order to get more loft, more distance and more direction. You will also read what the pros think as well as amateurs like you and me.
The first thing is to find your ideal launch angle so you will need the TaylorMade R11 loft adjustment feature which uses their unique Flight Control Technology (FCT). This allows you to increase or decrease the launch angle and also controls the backspin by plus or minus 1,000 rpm.
Making the adjustments is a matter of unscrewing the bottom screw with the wrench provided and withdrawing the shaft from the club head. You then rotate the shaft and re-insert it into the head lining up the markings to your desired position. The adjustments can be made in half degree increments so you can play with it until you find the most beneficial loft and backspin for you.
You see that red triangular button in the picture up there on the left? That is on the bottom of the TaylorMade R11 head and is what controls the angle of the face. It is called an Adjustable Sole Plate (ASP). By unscrewing this plate you can open or close the face by 2 degrees either way. As you unscrew the plate in naturally pops up and you then line up the desired position with the arrow and screw in back down. There is a distinctive click when it is tightened so there is no fear of it coming loose or you over tightening it.
The third adjustment controls the draw by use of weights. There are two weights which fit into the heel and toe of the club. For a more neutral draw leave the heavier weight in the toe and the lighter one in the heel which is how the TaylorMade R11 come to you. But if you like a little more draw you simply swap these two around with what TaylorMade like to term their Movable Weight Technology or TaylorMade R11 MWT.
What The Pros Are Saying
Justin Rose: ” The driver looks incredible. and once we tuned it, the distance gained just blew me away”
“I have never been so dialed on the tee” said Dustin Johnson. “The fitting was quick and simple: three steps and the R11 was totally customized to my swing. I can’t wait to bring this driver out on Tour”
As you might expect from a new driver, the aerodynamics have been designed for minimum drag and maximum speed while the white crown and black club face is very helpful for aiming.
We Have Not Heard A Bad Word From The Amateurs Either
“You will turn a lot of heads with this bad boy and make all of your buddies jealous” was one comment I read and “It felt like the ball just jumped off the face of the club.” was another.
One tip was to “…change the weights from 1 gram on the heel and 10gram on the toe. It will give you a perfect power fade shots.”
Golfers who have newer drivers may not notice a huge difference in the distance and control but if you are like a lot of people and have not changed in a few years the difference is dramatic. Unlike the Taylormade Burner Superfast, this is like having a custom built driver specifically designed to suit your swing. The finer you tune it, the further you will hit the golf ball.
In the video below Brad Syslo demonstrates the adjustments of the R11 in detail.
Obviously a technologically advanced driver like this is not cheap and therefore is not for everyone. Even a preowned Taylomade R11 isn’t cheap but if you love your game and take it seriously, the Taylomade R11 is worth every cent.
The Taylormade Burner Superfast Driver has a larger club face than most drivers which is good for me because it makes it far easier to hit the golf ball. Not only that it goes straight too which does my confidence a world of good.
Despite its larger face, surprisingly, it is 14 grams lighter than other TaylorMade Burners such as the Burner 09 for example. This is due to the ultra thin wall technology developed by TaylorMade.
Lightness is also a feature of the Winn grip which weighs in at only 30 grams. The shaft is also a little longer than the Burner 09 which helps to give distance. Even though it is lighter this driver is very strong and durable.
When you look closely you will see that the club head itself is aerodynamically designed to allow wind to fly over the crown more easily. This reduces the drag and also helps to increase the distance of your shot.
The weight of the shaft, its length and grip combined with the overall head design, all contribute to the club head speed. In addition, the high launch angle and high ball spin will help you to gain up to 5 yards on your shot. All in all this driver will help any golfer get that much nearer the tee.

The preowned TaylorMade Burner you see on the left is an example of the drivers Clubs n Covers sell.
Typically the Taylormade Burner is described as more forgiving than many clubs and are better suited for people with a highish handicap.
The Burner Rescue Tour Launch Hybrid falls into this category and its forgiving nature will give you more confidence in your game.
Essentially TaylorMade Burner rescue clubs are designed to give you a better swing speed which in turn gives you extra height and length which is what you want of course.
